Depending on professional background, experience and family situation, a competitive compensation and benefits package will be offered. The successful applicant will be offered a fixed-term appointment of one year duration or until 31 December 2019, limited to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL). This appointment and any subsequent extension(s) will be subject to terms of the Tribunal's mandate and/or the availability of funds.

The Special Tribunal for Lebanon is an international inter-governmental organization with its own independent legal identity and not a United Nations (UN) organization. However, the STL follows the UN common system of salaries, allowances and benefits to its staff members. UN staff members may also serve on loan from their parent department/office, if selected.

The recruitment process may include a pre-screening exercise, written tests and competency-based interviews.

A roster of suitable candidates may be established for this particular profile as a result of this selection process for both fixed-term established and general temporary assistance posts.

Under the supervision of theInformation Systems Officer, IT and Information Management Team, and within the limits of delegated authority, the Associate Information Systems Officer is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

* Develop, implement and maintain the Office of the Prosecutor (OTP) IT systems.

* Design, develop and manage Microsoft SQL relational databases of the OTP.

* Implement appropriate security, backup and disaster recovery plans.

* Ensure the security and availability of information stored in OTP databases.

* Provide systems administration support to all information technology used to host OTP databases.

* Troubleshoot issues with OTP IT systems and SQL databases.
Assist in the development and implementation of the OTP MS SharePoint server.

* Develop and maintain the OTP enterprise search solutions. Compose and update OTP IT systems documentation. Interact regularly with other units within the Special Tribunal's Information Services Section of the Registry.

* Perform other duties as requested.
Knowledge and Skills
* Professionalism - Knowledge in the design, development, implementation, tuning, troubleshooting and operation of enterprise relational databases; Microsoft SharePoint server; enterprise search systems, preferably ElasticSearch; research, problem-solving skills; ability to identify and participate in the resolution of issues/problems; ability to work independent of national and other external influences.

* Planning and organizing - Capable of working under stressful conditions and be able to plan own work and manage conflicting priorities.

* Communication - Excellent oral and written communication skills.

* Teamwork - Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and working relations in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity and gender.
• Education: University degree, preferably in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or Information Systems. Professional certification in database administration, Microsoft SharePoint, or related fields of study would be an advantage.

• Work Experience: At least 4 years of progressively responsible experience in the design, development, implementation, tuning, troubleshooting and operation of enterprise relational databases, preferably in a national or international law enforcement, judicial, or security setting. Practical experience in large database administration would be a distinct advantage. Experience in the development and implementation of Microsoft SharePoint server. Knowledge of the design and development of databases storing information in the Arabic language is desirable. Possession of an advanced university degree in a relevant field may be considered in substitution of two years of experience.

• Languages: Arabic, English and French are the official languages of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon. For this post, fluency in written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of the other language(s) is an asset.
