Depending on professional background, experience and family situation, a competitive compensation and benefits package will be offered. The successful applicant will be offered a fixed-term appointment of one year duration limited to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL). Any subsequent extension(s) are subject to terms of the Tribunal’s mandate and/or the availability of the funds. The Special Tribunal for Lebanon is an international inter-governmental organization with its own independent legal identity and not a UN organization. However, STL follows the UN common system for benefits and entitlements to its staff members. UN staff members may also serve on loan from their parent department/office, if selected.
The recruitment process may include a pre-selection procedure, written tests and interviews to assess levels of competency.

A roster of suitable candidates may be established for this particular profile as a result of this selection process for both fixed-term established and general temporary assistance posts.

• The IT helpdesk technician provides first and when possible, second level support for computer related incident and problem resolution.
• The incumbent works in the IT Section at the Beirut Office and reports to the Associate Information Technology and Communications Officer.
• First point of contact for all desktop and network issues reported by users, the IT helpdesk technician shall maintain and update trouble/work tickets using the Service Desk Ticketing system and ensure all tickets are attended and resolved within the agreed service level.
• He/She will be responsible for identifying systematic or procedural software or ICT recurring issues and initiating action to resolve them.
• Manages accounts for desktop users. Provides technical support for Video Conference and Remote Testimony from the Beirut Office. Assists the Court Officer and AV Technicians in preparation and testing prior to Court Hearings.
Knowledge and Skills
• Technological awareness – Practical knowledge of Information technology relevant to the area of assignment.

• Communication – Good oral and written communications skills; ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner.

• Professionalism – Self motivated; ability to perform under minimal supervision.

• Teamwork – Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training in information technology. Industry qualifications in desktop operating systems, networking and Video Conferencing would be an asset.

• Work Experience: At least 4 years of experience in an IT environment with a focus on a broad range of IT technologies including helpdesk support networking, desktop systems, security and active directory. International experience within a multi cultural environment would be an asset.

• Languages: Arabic, English and French are the official languages of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon. For this post proficiency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of the other official languages is an asset.
