Dear colleagues,

Please refer to the Administrative Instruction STL/AI/HR/24 dated 28 July 2017. Following the establishment of the Gender Focal Point function, this notice will serve as the Call for Expressions of Interest to solicit interested and qualified STL staff members in Leidschendam and Beirut for consideration for appointment to the role of Gender Focal Point for the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.


Responsibilities
As per Section 5 of the Instruction, the qualifications for the functions include:
"The Gender Focal Point should have a strong commitment to the goal of gender equality and shall demonstrate the highest standards of efficiency, competence and integrity.
The Gender Focal Point shall have the following skills and qualities:
a) Demonstrated interest in issues related to gender in the workplace.
b) Knowledge and understanding of gender issues and gender specific methodologies.
c) Willingness to strengthen her/his own capacity in this area.
d) Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with management is required.
e) Good interpersonal skills and the ability to act as an effective team player.
f) Ability to build trust.
g) Sensitivity and respect for diversity"
Knowledge and Skills
As noted in the Instruction, the term for the selected individual(s) will be for a renewable one-year period. During this time, it is intended that the individual will have the opportunity to receive training and/or arrangements made for the individual to meet and / or discuss with the gender focal points from other organizations (on site or remotely). Resource materials useful in the assignment will be identified and provided to the selected individual. In addition, HFRS will also routinely provide the selected Focal Point with statistical information on Gender in the Organization.

As this function will be performed as a collateral duty, discussions with the selected staff member's supervisor will be held to determine if sufficient time can be allowed for the successful performance of the Focal Point's functions.

Selection for this function will not affect the participant's contractual status and will not imply a temporary reassignment to a vacant position.

Interested staff member can express their interest by submitting by an email to stl-recruitment@un.org with a short (less than one page) description of their rationale/interest in serving the role of Gender Focal Point and how they are suited and meet the qualifications listed in paragraph 5 of the Instruction. The deadline for receiving expressions of interest is 21 September 2017.
