Depending on professional background, experience and family situation, a competitive compensation and benefits package will be offered. The successful applicant will be offered a fixed-term appointment of one year duration or until 31 December 2019, limited to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL). This appointment and any subsequent extension(s) will be subject to terms of the Tribunal's mandate and/or the availability of funds.

The STL is an international inter-governmental organization with its own independent legal identity and not a United Nations (UN) system organization. However, the STL follows the UN common system of salaries, allowances and benefits. UN staff members may also serve on loan from their parent department/office, if selected.

Any appointment for this position will be on a local basis.

The recruitment process may include a pre-screening exercise, written tests and competency-based interviews.

A roster of suitable candidates may be established for this post as a result of this selection process for both fixed-term/established and general temporary assistance posts.

Responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of the Legal Officer, Case Management Team, the Evidence Management Clerk will be responsible for undertaking the activities relating to the appropriate, searching and updating of evidentiary material records on a project-by-project basis. This will include: undertaking comprehensive searches of the evidence collection, linking relevant entites, creation of document extracts, electronic naming and categorizing of documents, creation of witness and exhibit binders, and identifying materials for translation, based on the OTP's obligations pursuant to the Rules of Procedure and Evidence; liaising with supervisors to ensure the materials are properly searched and exploited; Performs all other relevant tasks as directed by the Legal Officer; Undertakes any other tasks as required.
Knowledge and Skills
- Professionalism - Knowledge of document management preferably in an investigation, litigation support or law enforcement environment; Ability to apply knowledge of investigative requirements to the searching of evidence and related documents; Familiarity with the nature of evidentiary materials and the importance of searching evidence and updating of evidentiary material records; Capable of working independently and applying good judgment in the context of assignments given and responding appropriately when difficulties or conflicts arise; Ability to apply and maintain confidentiality and to work free of national influences; Excellent attention to detail; Ability to identify and record relevant metadata.

- Client Orientation - Excellent client orientation skills.

- Planning and Organising - Ability to effectively work under pressure with deadlines and on multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

- Technology Awareness - Expertise in using document management and search tools; Full proficiency in the use of Microsoft XP, Microsoft Office and the use of iBase softwareDatabase software.

- Communications - Excellent communication (oral and written) skills, including drafting and editing skills.

- Teamwork - Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a non-discriminatory manner in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
Qualifications
- Education: Completion of secondary education; formal training and/or demonstrable experience in law-enforcement, information/intelligence management, case management and/or evidence management.

- Experience: at least 4 years of practical experience in information management support, preferably in an investigation, litigation support or law enforcement environment. Experience in an international investigative/litigation environment would be advantageous.

- Languages: Arabic, English and French are the official languages of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Arabic language skills will be considered a strong asset.
