Depending on professional background, experience and family situation, a competitive compensation and benefits package will be offered. The successful applicant will be offered a fixed-term appointment of one year duration or until 31 December 2019, limited to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL). This appointment and any subsequent extension(s) will be subject to terms of the Tribunal's mandate and/or the availability of funds.

The STL is an international inter-governmental organization with its own independent legal identity and not a United Nations (UN) system organization. However, the STL follows the UN common system of salaries, allowances and benefits. UN staff members may also serve on loan from their parent department/office, if selected.

The recruitment process may include a pre-screening exercise, written tests and competency-based interviews.

A roster of suitable candidates may be established for this post as a result of this selection process for both fixed-term/established and general temporary assistance posts.

It is not necessary at this stage to send copies of qualifications, previous employment contracts, entire publications, etc.

Responsibilities
The Case Management Assistant will be deployed within the Case Management Team (CMT) of the Prosecution Division.

Under the direct supervision of the CMT Legal Officer and any delegated supervision, the Case Management Assistant will be responsible for a variety of functions, including but not limited to the following:

- Daily assistance to the Case Management Team (CMT) in administration of case material for pre-trial and trial related work, including the retrieval and dissemination of documents, redaction of materials, disclosure preparation, exhibit identification, prioritizing and processing translation requests and maintenance of records to provide statistical information;

- Liaise with staff of the CMT to provide support in the organizing and filing of materials for pre-trial and trial related purposes, as well as members of the Investigation Division;

- Daily use of the electronic systems used by the Prosecution Division.

- During trial activity, provide administrative support to the Trial Team, Case Managers and the Connected Cases/Related Cases Team;

- Maintains contact with all team members to ensure that sufficient operational support is provided as required.
Knowledge and Skills
- Professionalism - Knowledge of case management administrative assistance in the international context, or sufficient equivalent administrative experience.

- Client Orientation - Ability to tailor reports and dissemination of information to the particular needs of various clients.

- Planning and Organising - Demonstrated ability to effectively and appropriately plan one's own work; Ability to work under pressure with deadlines and on multiple tasks and projects simultaneously;

- Technology Awareness - Fully proficient computer skills; Familiar with analytical and/or investigative software in addition to MS Office. Of particular benefit would be experience in the use of i2 or iBase;

- Communication - Excellent English language communication (oral and written) skills.

- Teamwork - Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.

Qualifications
• Education: Completion of secondary education; formal training and/or demonstrable experience in information analysis, research in a political, legal, or security setting, or related fields.

• Work Experience: At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in related roles, ideally in a legal environment. Experience in an international legal environment would be advantageous.

• Languages: Arabic, English and French are the official languages of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of Arabic is a strong asset.
