The Office of the Prosecutor (OTP) wishes to establish a roster of suitable candidates for a P-1 Assistant Evidence Reviewer post as a result of this selection process for any vacancy that may arise for both fixed-term established and general temporary assistance posts.

Depending on professional background, experience and family situation, a competitive compensation and benefits package will be offered. The successful applicant will be offered a temporary appointment for duration of six months or until 31 December 2020. Any subsequent extension(s) are subject to the terms of the Tribunal's mandate and/or the availability of funds. The Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) is an international inter-governmental organization with its own independent legal identity and not a United Nations organization. However, the STL follows the UN common system of salaries, allowances and benefits. UN staff members may also serve on loan from their parent department/office, if selected.
It is not necessary at this stage to send copies of qualifications, previous employment contracts, entire publications, etc.

Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Legal Officer and Associate Case Manager, Case Management Team, the Assistant Evidence Reviewer is responsible for the performance of the following duties:

• Review evidentiary materials and extract relevant or exculpatory information pertaining to the case(s);

• Support the process of disclosure, pre-trial and trial preparation, including by carrying out evidence review in accordance with relevant guidelines; identifying documents for disclosure, preparing summaries of evidence, and proposing and implementing redactions to documents for disclosure or use at trial;

• Assist and support the proceedings by identifying and retrieving information for use by the teams in a pre-trial and trial / litigation perspective;

• Carry out searches and reviews of materials based on specific criteria ;

• Work in the evidence databases and create reports;

• Use software to record analysis and findings, check information and prepare redactions;

• Maintain organised files and work accurately and efficiently to meet tight deadlines, and;

• Perform any other functions as required.

• Teamwork - Excellent inter-personal skills with an ability to work effectively with other staff in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity; integrity; ability to operate across organisational boundaries.

• Technological Awareness – Keeps abreast of available technology. Proficiency in the use of computer tools.
Qualifications
•Education: University degree, in law or related subject. Study of criminal law/public international law/international criminal law/Lebanese law is an asset. Documented equivalent combination of relevant experience and formal education may be considered appropriately.

•Work Experience: At least 2 years of progressively responsible professional experience. Experience in the practice of case management at a domestic or international criminal court is an asset. Experience in complex cases such as multi-defendant cases, terrorism, murder and organised crime cases is an asset. Prior experience in international investigations or at international criminal tribunals is an asset. Awareness of the political, historical and cultural context of the Middle East is an asset. Knowledge of analysis software is an asset. Possession of an advanced University degree in a relevant field may be considered in substitution of years of experience.

•Languages: Arabic, English and French are the official languages of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon. For this post proficiency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable. Knowledge of French is an asset.

•Other: Demonstrated ability to use document database software and document editing software.
